Derek Kaufman - Founder and CEO

Derek Kaufman

Founder and CEO

Derek Kaufman is Founder and CEO of Inclusive Abundance, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization building a dynamic community of notable policy experts, public officials, business leaders, and philanthropists to shape America’s future through an abundance-focused agenda. Inclusive Abundance builds on Mr. Kaufman’s previous policy work in areas ranging from the Child Tax Credit in the American Rescue Plan to the Regional Technology and Innovation Hubs in the CHIPS and Science Act. 

His prior career in finance included serving as Head of Global Fixed Income at the hedge fund Citadel and as Global Head of Fixed Income in the Proprietary Positioning Business at JPMorgan Chase. He was a member of the Treasury Borrowing Advisory Committee and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Investor Advisory Committee on Financial Markets.

He is currently on the Boards of Third Way, the Folger Shakespeare Library, and the Constructive Dialogue Institute, on the Advisory Council of the Sadie Collective, and on the Leadership Council of the Robin Hood Foundation.

Mr. Kaufman received a bachelor’s degree in Applied Math/Economics from Harvard College.

J.D. Grom - Senior Advisor

J.D. Grom

Senior Advisor

J.D. Grom is a Senior Advisor at Inclusive Abundance. From October 2021 to January 2025, he served as a Senior Advisor to U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, where he developed and executed the strategy to pass the CHIPS & Science Act and led its implementation at the Department. 

Prior to that, J.D. served from September 2013 to October 2021 as the longest- tenured Executive Director of the House New Democrat Coalition, where he spearheaded efforts to elevate the caucus’ influence and effectiveness in Congress. He has also served as a senior advisor at the U.S. Department of the Treasury and as a policy staffer for his hometown Member of Congress. J.D. is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Economics.

Emily Hsieh - Head of Finance

Emily Hsieh

Head of Finance

Emily Hsieh is the Head of Finance at the Inclusive Abundance Initiative. She also provides financial management to other organizations focused on strengthening American democracy. Previously, she was a Fellow with Arnold Ventures, supporting their democracy, immigration, and climate portfolios.

Prior to philanthropy, Emily worked in the private sector, leading product strategy and operations for a financial services company. She also founded a financial planning firm to help young professionals feel more confident with their financial narrative.

She received both her Masters in Professional Accounting and bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin. Hook ‘em!

Kevin Lo - Senior Advisor

Kevin Lo

Senior Advisor

Kevin Lo is Senior Advisor at the Inclusive Abundance Initiative. Previously, he was the Deputy Chief of Staff at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

Before joining the White House in January 2021, Kevin worked on political campaigns across the country. Outside of politics and policy, he has also worked in professional sports and food, including as the COO of Brigaid—a start-up aimed at rethinking institutional food. Despite his passion for sports and food though, Kevin always found himself drawn back to the broad potential impact of politics and policy.

He was born in Taiwan, grew up in southern California, and earned a bachelor’s degree in Government, with a minor in Business Administration, from Georgetown University.

Anna Marcus - Executive Assistant

Anna Marcus

Executive Assistant

Anna Marcus is an Executive Assistant at Inclusive Abundance. She previously worked at The Bridgespan Group, where she supported senior leadership and helped coordinate initiatives focused on social impact.

Prior to her work in operations and administration, Anna was a teacher, where she developed strong communication skills, adaptability, and a passion for creating structure within dynamic environments.

Anna received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Pennsylvania State University. She is based in Brooklyn, New York.

Joshua Seawell - Head of Policy

Joshua Seawell

Head of Policy

Joshua Seawell is the Head of Policy at the Inclusive Abundance Initiative. He previously worked at The Bridgespan Group, where he advised philanthropic and nonprofit clients; the think tank Employ America, where he supported political strategy on nominations among other work; and BerlinRosen, where he supported impact-driven clients on communications strategy and strategy execution.

He continues to support Employ America as a member of its Board. Joshua received a bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies with honors from Stanford University, with a minor in Political Science. He received a Master in Public Affairs degree from SPIA at Princeton University. Joshua resides in Los Angeles.

Will Viederman - Chief of Staff

Will Viederman

Chief of Staff

Will Viederman is the Chief of Staff at the Inclusive Abundance Initiative. He previously led policy at Elm City Communities/the Housing Authority of New Haven, where he advanced state and local reforms to promote housing abundance. 

Earlier in his career, he worked on and managed electoral campaigns at the state and local level in Colorado, Virginia, and Connecticut. Will holds a bachelor's degree with distinction in Political Science from Yale University and a Master of Public Administration from NYU's Wagner School of Public Service, where he received the Martin Dworkis Memorial Award. Originally from Western Massachusetts, he now lives in Brooklyn, NY.
