“Ignoring food and farming innovation does not bode well for decarbonization or farmers.”

Emily Bass

Emily joined Breakthrough in 2022 as the Public Policy Assistant for Food and Agriculture. She is interested in the intersections of environmental, food security, and public health outcomes and has a background in policy analysis and communications.

Prior to Breakthrough, Emily worked in government consulting at American Institutes for Research, where she provided policy support to federal health agencies with a focus on health equity and payer innovation. She also completed internships with several sustainability-focused non-profits including The United Nations Foundation and Field to Market: The Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture. Emily earned her BA in Public Policy and Economics from the College of William & Mary.

Outside of work, Emily loves hiking, shopping at weekend farmers' markets, exploring neighborhoods around DC, and attending as many free Smithsonian events as possible.
