Policy and Communications Associate

Policy and Communications Associate

Title: Policy and Communications Associate

Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid)

About Inclusive Abundance:

Abundance is a new and growing movement to foster a more vibrant economy with widespread flourishing.

Inclusive Abundance is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization bringing together notable policy experts, think tanks, and advocacy groups to shape America's future through an abundance-focused agenda. In the coming year, we are excited to promote new approaches to housing, energy, innovation, and government effectiveness. We believe in the power of ideas, and we are fostering a community to champion them.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a versatile, sharp writer and policy thinker to join our team full-time, working at the intersection of policy research and strategic communications. This role will support both the Head of Communications and the Head of Policy, serving as the engine behind Inclusive Abundance's day-to-day public communications while building substantive knowledge of abundance policy issues. The ideal candidate is someone who can move fluidly between compiling research on housing and writing social media copy — and who brings genuine intellectual curiosity about abundance and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily communications operations, including news clips, social media, website updates, and maintenance of communications assets.
  • Support communications and policy products through contributor coordination, research, drafting, and editorial work.
  • Provide administrative support for message testing, including drafting poll questions and press memos.
  • Support press engagement, including drafting pitches and statements and maintaining media lists.
  • Support the government affairs team in drafting talking points, floor speech materials, and other communications products for legislative partners.
  • Attend policy events and support the policy and government affairs teams on projects as needed.

Successful candidates will have:

  • 2-5 years of experience in policy communications, policy research, or a writing-intensive role in government, advocacy, or media.
  • Passion for and proven alignment with our organization's mission and values.
  • Excellent writing skills — the ability to produce clear, compelling prose on complex policy topics for a range of audiences.
  • Deep, demonstrated interest in abundance issues.
  • Good political and strategic judgment, with the ability to work independently and prioritize across a range of tasks.
  • The ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • A self-starter mentality — someone who takes initiative and brings ideas, not just execution.
  • Background in abundance policy is a significant plus.
  • High conscientiousness, including attention to detail and ability to prioritize and communicate clearly when workload is high.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience (ranging from $80,000 to $110,000 per year).
  • Opportunities for professional development and growth.
  • A collaborative, supportive, and exciting work environment.
  • Health reimbursement arrangements available for employees to purchase insurance on the exchange, and additional health insurance and retirement benefits coming soon.
