Role Overview:

We are seeking a talented and passionate professional to join our team full-time to help manage Inclusive Abundance’s engagement with policymakers and other organizations in the abundance advocacy ecosystem. This role will focus on Inclusive Abundance’s innovation, artificial intelligence, and technology policy engagement with Congress and relevant federal agencies. Reporting to the Head of Government and External Affairs, the Manager will serve as a representative of Inclusive Abundance in DC. Day-to-day, you will help shape Inclusive Abundance’s profile in DC and serve as a point of contact for policymakers and their staff and organizations in the abundance advocacy ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help execute a government affairs strategy to advance the Inclusive Abundance mission.
  • Maintain and expand relationships with congressional offices working on artificial intelligence, science, and innovation policy.
  • Serve as a policy resource and partner to congressional offices, federal executive agencies, and relevant policymakers working to advance abundance policies.
  • Prepare policy memos, talking points, and communications materials to support external advocacy.
  • Track and analyze abundance-oriented federal policy proposals by lawmakers and external partners.
  • Collaborate with external partners and joint initiatives to advance shared policy goals by preparing for meetings and conducting follow-up.
  • Work with Inclusive Abundance team members, institutional partners, and organizations in the broader abundance ecosystem seeking to engage with policymakers to advance abundance priorities.
  • Organize and attend events, briefings, and receptions to highlight abundance policies and enhance relationships with policymakers and external partners.

Successful candidates will have: 

  • At least 3-5 years of experience working in Congress, federal agencies, and/or equivalent policy advocacy experience.
  • Passion for and proven alignment with our organization’s mission and values.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex topics for policy audiences.
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, and manage multiple issue areas simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong strategic thinking and political judgment.
  • Deep familiarity with and interest in one or many of the following issue areas: science policy, artificial intelligence, innovation policy, or government reform/state capacity.
  • The ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Background in abundance policy is a significant plus.
