Role Overview:
We are seeking a talented and passionate communications professional to join our team full-time to lead efforts to convey our vision of abundance to a range of national, state, and local audiences. Reporting to the Founder and CEO, this role has an emphasis on strategic advising, writing, and content creation, and secondary focus on interfacing with press and coordinating digital media. The ideal candidate will be able to collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute the organization’s communications needs and help advance programmatic and policy goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and implement a strategic communications plan for the organization aligned with its policy and development goals.
- Draft and distribute newsletters, op-eds, speeches, digital communications content, media advisories, press releases, and other communications products to support policy announcements and organizational priorities.
- Serve as the point person for organizing or executing virtual and in-person press opportunities around Inclusive Abundance events and policy product releases.
- Identify, build, and maintain relationships with key media figures, including print/digital reporters and producers/bookers.
- Help shape messaging around abundance policy with organizations and media covering this space.
- Support congressional offices and other policymakers in communicating about abundance priorities.
- Collaborate with abundance policy experts and key partners to translate ideas into engaging content for a range of audiences.
- Develop clear metrics of performance for individual projects.
Successful candidates will have:
- At least 5 years of experience managing press for a nonprofit organization, government official, campaign or trade association, or equivalent experience with a public relations firm.
- Passion for and proven alignment with our organization’s mission and values.
- Excellent writing and editing skills and strong ability to quickly grasp and translate complex policy topics.
- A high level of attention to detail and a proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Creative thinking skills with the ability to run a content strategy across multiple social media platforms.
- A strong sense of the highest-leverage opportunities and tactics for a given moment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Background in abundance policy is a significant plus.
