Inclusive Abundance Action Statement on Permitting Reform Progress

Inclusive Abundance Action Statement on Permitting Reform Progress

Press Release

Washington, DC – Today, Inclusive Abundance Action President Derek Kaufman released the following statement in response to the House Natural Resources Committee approving the Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development (SPEED) Act. The SPEED Act received the votes of all the committee’s Republicans and Democratic Reps. Jared Golden and Adam Gray, and now advances to the House floor.

“For America to achieve an abundant future, one where energy is affordable and innovation can flourish, we need to be able to build again. By modernizing NEPA, one of the biggest roadblocks to building robust infrastructure and power production, we can get closer to achieving this vision.

“It’s now clear that momentum is growing on both sides of the aisle. The passage of Chairman Westerman and Rep. Golden’s SPEED Act is a positive sign that a comprehensive permitting reform package will be passed this Congress. Such a package should curtail the unnecessary bureaucracy and litigation that indefinitely stall projects and drive up costs, ensure project certainty, build out the grid, and maintain critical environmental protections. We will continue to work with members and stakeholders until that’s done.”
