Press Release
Washington, DC – Today, Inclusive Abundance Action President Derek Kaufman released the following statement in response to the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously approving the ePermit Act, which was introduced by U.S. Representatives Dusty Johnson (R-SD) and Scott Peters (D-CA) and digitizes the U.S.’s permitting process, mandates one online portal for coordinated agency reviews, and reduces processing time for all federal permits, including those for energy projects.
“The current federal permitting reform conversation has rightly focused on shortening timelines, but we also need to drag the process into the 21st century. By moving the entire permitting process online, the ePermit Act does exactly that. We applaud members of Congress for making this commonsense change to speed up projects Americans are counting on, including energy, transportation, and housing.
“This vote is the latest sign that the abundance agenda is gaining momentum in Congress. There is growing, bipartisan recognition that we can’t solve today’s challenges – much less tomorrow’s – with a government stuck in the past.”
