About Inclusive Abundance:
Abundance is a new and growing movement to foster a more vibrant economy with widespread flourishing.
Inclusive Abundance is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization building a dynamic community of notable policy experts, think tanks, and advocacy groups to shape America's future through an abundance-focused agenda. In the coming year, we are excited to promote new approaches to housing, energy, innovation, and government effectiveness issues. We believe in the power of ideas, and we are building a community to build inclusive dialogue around those ideas and champion them.
Role Overview:
We are seeking an economic policy specialist to contract with our organization part-time. While the exact contours of the role will depend on the candidate, we expect that it will entail 15-25 hours of work for 6-9 months. This role will support the Head of Policy, both on a large policy project spanning multiple issue areas and on building out values-aligned perspectives on new issues. The ideal candidate has a mix of economic, statistical, political, and policy literacy and the ability to think about problems creatively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use research and original analysis to estimate size of current economic bottlenecks and impact of potential solutions.
- Evaluate, edit, and help shape issue proposals.
- Help the Head of Policy develop abundance perspectives on new issues like family policy, health care, and artificial intelligence, as well as help operationalize abundance perspectives core issues.
- Offer proactive updates to the Head of Policy and other team members about progress.
- Contribute to Policy and Government Affairs team discussions as needed.
- Conduct needed administrative tasks in a timely manner
Successful candidates will have:
- Advanced degree in economics or a related quantitative field strongly recommended — specializations in target policy areas and domains like public economics will likely present a strong fit for our needs.
- Current all-but-dissertation candidates, recent PhD graduates, and exceptional researchers and analysts of any education level with demonstrated, relevant skills and knowledge are encouraged to apply.
- Passion for and proven alignment with our organization's mission and values.
- Economics-informed ability to evaluate difficult problems and help develop creative, efficient, and ethical policy solutions.
- Ability to clearly communicate original views on complex policy topics.
- Deep, demonstrated interest in abundance issues.
- Good political and strategic judgment, with the ability to work independently and prioritize across a range of tasks.
- The ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- A self-starter mentality — someone who takes initiative and brings ideas, not just execution.
- Background in abundance policy is a significant plus.
- High conscientiousness, including attention to detail and ability to prioritize and communicate clearly when workload is high.
What We Offer:
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience and hour load ($3,500/mo - $8,500/mo).
- Access to a network of abundance-aligned leaders.
- A collaborative, supportive, and exciting work environment.
