About Inclusive Abundance

Inclusive Abundance is an affiliated 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization working to help America build more, innovate faster, and make government work better for everyone.

Role Overview

We are hiring a Press Secretary to make Inclusive Abundance and the abundance agenda impossible for national political and policy press to ignore.

Abundance is not short on commentators. It has books, essays, podcasts, and critics arguing about what it means. But it lacks someone who’s regularly pitching and shaping broader stories, getting reporters to cover what abundance policy delivers for people, and making the case that abundance is already reordering our politics heading into the 2028 primaries. That’s what our Press Secretary will do.

The Press Secretary will handle our more political and narrative work, including national political press, rapid response, and using owned and earned media to tell the story of the abundance movement itself. This person will also own our social media, working with our Head of Communications to build our digital strategy. They will work hand-in-hand with a policy communications colleague who leads on policy-specific press and Congressional communications support.

This is not an entry-level position. We want a candidate who comes with national press relationships and a trove of ideas about how to get abundance the press it deserves.

Key Responsibilities

Drive National Press Coverage

  • Work with the Head of Communications to build and manage Inclusive Abundance’s relationships with national reporters, columnists, editorial boards, and newsletter and podcast hosts.
  • Drive coverage of our Abundance Agenda, our message testing and polling, and other projects, including by developing and executing reporter briefings, pitches, embargoed rollouts, and exclusives; field media inquiries and recommend which opportunities to take.
  • Identify and train a slate of aligned messengers who can be pitched on abundance topics; prepare Inclusive Abundance staff for media opportunities.
  • Write sharp, persuasive press materials: pitches, press releases, statements, background memos, op-eds, talking points, briefing documents, and messaging guidance.
  • Own our social media and build and execute the digital strategy across X, LinkedIn, Substack, and other platforms; and produce or oversee graphics, video, and newsletter content.
  • Identify and land thought leadership opportunities for our CEO and senior staff, including bylines, panels, podcasts, background briefings, and through our Substack.
  • Work with our Events & Convenings Manager to develop and plan events that strengthen our standing in DC and other policy and political communities.
  • Track coverage, social metrics, and where the abundance narrative is heading.
  • Serve as an on-the-record spokesperson where directed.

Successful candidates will have

  • 4-7 years of communications experience in politics or policy – a congressional office, political campaign, government administration, advocacy organization, think tank, or comparable setting.
  • Existing relationships with national political and policy reporters, and a track record of press placements.
  • Digital fluency and experience: you have run social accounts and developed creative content that drives attention.
  • Creativity and initiative. We will judge candidates heavily on their ideas to get abundance covered better.
  • Excellent, fast writing.
  • Strong judgment about political risk, and skill operating in a movement where allies do not always agree with each other.
  • A collaborative instinct. This role shares the communications portfolio with a policy communications colleague, so we need someone who divides work generously and shares credit.
  • Passion for and proven alignment with our organization’s mission and values, including a genuine interest in abundance policy and politics. You do not need to be a housing or energy expert, but you should be curious enough to become one.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience (ranging from $90,000 to $130,000 per year).
  • A comprehensive benefits package that includes medical insurance with premiums covered at up to 100% by the employer across four plan options, as well as 100% employer-paid dental and vision. Depending on your plan selection, you may be eligible for an HSA, FSA, or DCFSA. A 401(k) with employer match is coming soon. We also provide employee-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance options. Beyond core coverage, employees receive a One Medical membership, access to discounted gynecological and fertility services through Kindbody, 12 free video therapy sessions annually via Talkspace, and personalized patient advocacy support through Health Advocate.
  • Opportunities for professional development and growth.
  • A collaborative, supportive, and exciting work environment.
