Inclusive Abundance Action applauds House geothermal bill passage

Inclusive Abundance Action applauds House geothermal bill passage

Press Release

Washington, DC – Today, Inclusive Abundance Action President Derek Kaufman released the following statement in response to the U.S. House of Representatives passing a package of bills to streamline federal permitting for geothermal energy.

“An abundant energy future means unlocking every energy source we have – including geothermal, which has been held back by permitting rules that no longer make sense. Today's vote moves us closer to the streamlined process this industry needs to deliver firm, clean power and meet our country's growing energy demands. We urge the Senate to act quickly and send it to the president’s desk.

“We’re grateful to Build America Caucus members who drove this across the finish line, including Rep. Celeste Maloy, whose GEO Act will speed up processing for geothermal projects, and Rep. Jeff Hurd, whose bill establishes a Geothermal Ombudsman and Geothermal Task Force.

“Leaders from across the aisle can build on this momentum with geothermal to push for a comprehensive permitting reform package to ensure energy projects of all kinds are given the certainty they need to flourish.”
